Hello world, here I am. Well, not quite. Among many other things, I have the power to channel my imagination into ever-soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia, so for the sake of my privacy and peace-of-mind, this LiveJournal is restricted to Friends-Only. If you want to get on that list, I promise to at least consider adding you if you leave a sesquipedalian on my front page.

My name is Melissa, but I go by many other pseudonyms, including Melser, Girk, Munchkin, and Fungus. I am a Sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin, currently studying Advertising, but you never know, that may change tomorrow. I have taken courses on everything from nusmismatics to banned literature, and have completed Independent Research Studies ranging from peace & conflict resolution to trend-hunting. I'm studying Chinese on my own, and plan to spend my Junior year in Beijing. I'm a pathological perfectionist, an uber over-achiever, but mainly, I'm just super nerdy. I have some emotional baggage, but at least it's cute and it all matches. I take most everything too seriously, and therefore I am hyper-sensitive and usually stressed out. If it seems like I'm a bit narcissistic, that's probably because I am. Not so much in real life, but this is my own little corner of the interweb. Welcome to it.

I have the best friend in the whole entire world and her name is Meredith. Together we travel to foreign countries, redecorate bedrooms, paint pictures, take photographs, nap, and occassionally we are productive too. We are really random all the time, and we're always having way more fun than the present situation consitutes. If it is any attestment to my self-proclaimed geekhood, my other favorite people in this world all go by their handles -- GT, Jarconis, and Proz.

I am addicted to the dance game called "Pump It Up!" I have been playing for nearly a year now, and usually dance on the Hard & Crazy levels. We have an Exceed 2 at the local arcade, and some of my favorite songs include Extravaganza, Monkey Fingers, Love Is A Danger Zone, and Get Up. I am partial to Banya, but I play a good deal of K-Pop as well.
